Get ready for some angry German teenagers.
I don’t think many people had heard of Tokio Hotel until they took to the stage at this year’s EMA’s. And we were all confused - firstly, why did four German teenagers name their band Tokio Hotel and secondly, is their lead singer a boy or a girl?
Upon careful study of the album cover, I can confirm that he is a boy (but only because it says his name is Bill Kaulitz), but the band name still eludes me. What I can tell you is that this album is not half bad, considering it’s translated from their German counterpart Schrei.
The first single, Monsoon is really beautiful and stands out as the classic track on the album. The rest of the stuff is the kind of catchy gut-wrenching nu metal rock which those Europeans seem to be so good at (think Rammstein).
Perhaps if I was a bit younger and a bit angrier at my parents I would love Scream, and I can imagine that the words would sound a lot more menacing in German. But I can appreciate that it’s one of the better answers to teenage angst and will be great for anyone who still has a Keep Out sign prestiked to their bedroom door.
